SLPFA offers opportunities to play and develop throughout the year.

Our primary softball season takes place during the spring and summer, with practices, league games, and tournaments. Schedules and commitments vary by age division.

SUMMER

A shorter season focused on continued skill development and game experience. Fall Ball is a great opportunity to keep playing, try softball, or prepare for the next age division.

FALL

Our winter clinics provide players with opportunities to develop their skills, strengthen fundamentals, and prepare for the upcoming softball season. Clinic offerings and schedules vary each winter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to commonly asked questions from new families.

Still have questions? Not sure which program is right for your player or have questions about getting started?

Contact SLPFA, and we'll help you find the information you need.

  • Does my daughter need previous softball experience?

No! Players of all experience levels are welcome. Our younger divisions focus on introducing players to the game while building fundamental skills and confidence.

At older age divisions, team placement may depend on evaluations and available roster spots. While we make every effort to provide opportunities for all interested players, roster limitations may occasionally require cuts.

  • How are teams formed?

Team formation varies by age division. At the 6U and 8U levels, we make every effort to group players by school when possible, with an emphasis on participation, skill development, and having fun.

At 10U and older, teams are formed through player evaluations, with consideration given to skill level, experience, positional needs, and overall team balance.

  • How much does registration cost?

Registration fees vary by age division and program. We work to keep fees as affordable as possible while providing a quality softball experience for all players. Current fees are available on our Registration page when registration opens.

  • How often are practices and games?

Schedules vary by age division and team. 6U teams typically have one practice and one game per week, while 8U and older teams generally have two practices and one or two games per week.

Older competitive teams may also participate in tournaments throughout the season. Specific practice and game days vary based on field availability and team schedules.

  • What equipment does my player need?

Players should have a softball glove, fielder's face mask, athletic shoes or cleats, and a water bottle. Additional equipment needs vary by division. Families will receive more information before the season begins.

  • When does the season start?

Summer softball generally begins in the spring, with games and tournaments continuing into summer. Fall Ball and winter clinics have separate schedules.
